Exemption Regulations - You are free
to chose who services your car. In
2003 the EU introduced a ruling that enabled owners to have
their vehicles serviced by independent garages, as opposed to
only franchised dealerships, without invalidating the manufacturers
warranty. The old arrangement was judged to represent
'an unjustified restriction for the customer'.
Independent garages can now service vehicles
without invalidating the manufacturers warranty provided that:-
- The service is done in accordance with the
manufacturers service schedules and is recorded as such.
- The parts used are of an appropriate quality
and are recorded as such.
We have always followed both requirements and
in fact we use only OEM spare parts, not alternatives.
We support the Trading Standards Fair Play Charter
and our procedures are audited by Trading Standards every twelve
months.

At John Atherton Autos we have invested heavily in our equipment
to stay at the forefront of vehicle servicing technology.

Code Reading
We have two types of this equipment in order to cover a huge
range of cars.
The Omitec scanner covers the popular cars such as VW, Ford,
Vauxhall, Rover, Renault and Peugeot.
The Launch scanner is for BMW, Mercedes and the Asian marques
such as Mitsubishi, Honda, Toyota and Nissan.
Frequent updates are sent to us from these manufacturers,
which we download directly into the equipment.
We have recently invested in second recovery truck,
a Mitsubishi Canter. This enables us to lift or tow larger vehicles
- up to 3.5T.
We also have the latest laser tracking gauges
and a whole range of state of the art equipment to enable us
to service your vehicle to the highest standards.
Commercial Vehicle Service
Contracts
From our earliest days we have been very strong in commercial
vehicle servicing.
We offer competitive rates but more than this, we appreciate
what a vehicle off the road means to a business - cost, inconvenience
and possible interference with customer service levels.
We operate a collection and delivery service and
are often able to turn a van around on the same day. We have
a strong client list that we retain and grow primarily due to
the service level they receive.
